Betsy Lovett Receives Lifetime Achievement Award PDF Print E-mail

Betsy Lovett, Foundation Board Chair received the Lifetime Achievement Award during the EVE Awards luncheon on Friday, May 30, 2008.

Jacksonville , Fla. – The Florida First Coast Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals names Betsy Lovett as Outstanding Philanthropist for the year 2007.  She was honored on National Philanthropy Day held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. 

Elizabeth “Betsy” Lovett is a Renaissance woman philanthropist. She has devoted most of her life to community leadership, volunteerism, fundraising and philanthropy. Betsy has given millions of dollars to charitable and cultural organizations such as the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, The Jacksonville Zoo, The American Cancer Society, Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Bolles School , the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation among others. In addition to Betsy’s monetary contributions to the organizations that she serves she also dedicates her time and energy to helping those non profits succeed.

“Betsy is an inspiration to everyone around her. She works tirelessly on behalf of any organization that she believes in and has endless enthusiasm, energy, and dedication. Her generosity does not go unnoticed and she highly deserves this recognition.” Said Maggie Hightower, Executive Director.

National Philanthropy Day is an annual event that is a special day set aside to recognize and pay tribute to great contributions that philanthropy- and those people active in the philanthropic community – have made to our lives, our communities, our nation and our world. The Jacksonville Public Library Foundation nominated Betsy for this honor because of her philanthropic efforts locally, nationally and internationally.

The Jacksonville Public Library Foundation, established in 1986, is a private, independent grant-making institution dedicated to supporting the Jacksonville Public Library through enhancements to book collections, literacy programs, facilities and technology.
